Louisiana needs more planning.

Before Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, fewer than 10 parishes
in Louisiana had master plans or hazard mitigation plans.

Under the constant threat of natural and man-made disasters,
it is critical that our communities are equipped to effectively plan.

Without CPEX as Louisiana's only non-profit planning organization, our communities would not have adequate access to planning resources.

A lack of planning often leads to:

  • A lack of connectivity
  • Disinvestment in city centers
  • Sprawl with severe traffic congestion
  • Limited transportation choices and limited mobility
  • Economic segregation and loss of economic opportunity
  • Distressed public schools
  • Lack of public green space
  • Loss of cultural heritage and a sense of place
  • Loss of natural resources
  • Failure to implement improvements
